Missing points

I was within 258 points of the next level and, the next time I used Waze and checked my scoreboard I was over 1800 points away. What happened to the 1600 points? Anyone with any ideas?

If you read this wiki page (http://www.waze.com/wiki/index.php?title=Your_Rank_and_Points) I suspect you’ll find this is because the rank boundaries are recalculated each month to keep a set percentage of users in your state.

That is a rip off. I drove the miles and earned the points. What others do should not affect what I do.

I just moved to TN. How many more points will I lose?

You’re not losing points! The levels are relative though.

Same thing. I guess I am trying to hit a moving target, one that keeps moving away. This is VERY unsatisfactory. How does my moving to another state affect this moving target. I guess I should stop keeping track of points and perhaps stop using WAZE. It is under consideration.

Not the same thing. You’re still accumulating points vs not losing points. In fact it’s the opposite thing! Are you potentially losing ground if your rivals are earning more points? Yes but then that’s the gamification, it is after all a leaderboard and not a milestone. If you move to a new state your points tally will migrate with you (assuming you remain on the same server, see the faq in my signature).

It doesn’t mean you lost points. It means your competition earned more points than you.

It’s a moving target, so as the people in the top 10%, 4% and 1% brackets IN YOUR STATE earn more points, you need to earn as much or more points than them to earn or maintain your status.
