Hi all,
Just responded to an very old UR regarding a road closure on NC-96 near Selma. The closure is no longer in effect, so we totally missed it. I think we just need a reminder to periodically check NCDOT TIMS to see if there are other road closures we should add to the Waze map.
TIMS: http://tims.ncdot.gov/TIMS/Default.aspx
Example: US-25 in Asheville - night closures 6/17/23 through 11/25/14 - http://tims.ncdot.gov/TIMS/IncidentDetail.aspx?id=421381 - Waze map shows this road unrestricted even though they’ve had nighttime closures since June of last year.

Another good resource! Thanks!
I’m trying to keep track of the ones in my area, but sometimes they slip through.

My first segment updated thanks to TIMS - a road closure due to bridge construction in Newton.

I was checking out the closure you updated since I am involved with a good bit of SR bridge replacement work and have a “Dumb Question”…
How does this prevent waze from routing across the closed segment? I’m sure I’m missing something obvious, but I didn’t see anything that would prevent routing. When I try to route using the Live Map it clearly works - but I don’t understand how. Turns onto the closed segment aren’t restricted and the “Road closed” segment isn’t connected to the Old Conover-Startown Rd segment - so what’s the magic? I’ve tried reading the Wiki but everything I’m finding is about reporting closures via the app.
Hi djnolden.
Not a dumb question at all. If you notice when you click on my segment link (permalink) above, the segment has little yellow dots on the normally blue segment color. This indicates that the segment has routing restrictions on it. Look to the left and click on “Edit restrictions (2)” - the (2) indicates that there are 2 restrictions in force. The restrictions show that the segment is restricted (i.e. closed) “Mon-Sun - All day - 08/04/2014 - 30/09/2014” - meaning all day, every day, from April 8th to Sept 30th 2014. This is true in both directions. That is how you close a segment for a specific period of time. I added the “eyecatcher” segment across the bridge just to have something show on the map if you approach the bridge. I’d remove it once the bride opens in September.
