New WME v2.323

Greetings Everyone :waving_hand:

We hope you’re all doing great.

We’ve just released a new version of WME v2.323 :rocket:

Below you can find a summary of the release.

New features/enhancements:

[Update] We have now opened another exciting feature. Suggest an Edit on Segments: The ‘Suggest an Edit’ feature in WME has been expanded to support New Segments across all environments, this is an important step towards enabling everyone to contribute to map editing.

Please read the detailed feature description in the dedicated post. We encourage you to give it and try and share your feedback in the mentioned post.

1. Auto Join to Waze Chat Groups: To help new editors find their footing and connect with the incredible wealth of knowledge in our local communities, we’re introducing Auto Join:

Note: We’re rolling this feature out gradually: one Waze chat group will be linked to Auto Join this week (Argentina). Additional groups will be linked over the next few weeks. Local leaders will be notified beforehand.

The flow is simple:

  • When a new editor saves their first map edit/edit suggestion, they’ll be automatically added to a local Waze chat group - only if the local leaders chose to link their Waze Chat group with this feature.
  • The new editor will instantly get a pop-up explaining where they are, with simple one-tap options to stay and chat, enable notifications for the group (muted by default), or leave if they prefer.
  • Note: the Turn on notifications will be unchecked by default.

Let us know your thoughts about this feature and any possible challenges new editors might face.

2. Performance: The team optimized the performance of the WME page by only loading parts of the sidebar when you click on them. This means the Editor starts quicker, consumes less resources, and interacts with the server less often. For example, clicking the “Select” tab is now much faster. Moving the map with the sidebar closed is also quicker. Also, some server requests (like for “major Traffic Events”) only happen now when users open the “MTE” tab, which should greatly reduce those requests.

3. Suggest an Edit on House Numbers: for enhanced comprehension and clarity, when suggesting House Number deletion, the HN chip will be highlighted in red and display a strikethrough on hover.
4. Suggest an Edit: the recenter button will be enabled when a suggestion includes only one object, such as a House Number or turns connected to a single node.
5. Alignment of Suggest an edit (SAE) and On Segment suggestions (OSS): We aligned the card style and added the Disable Street View and Show on Map buttons. If a suggestion contains more than two segments, it’s not possible to use these buttons, so they are displayed as disabled.
6. SDK improvements: please refer to the change log to check the SDK additions.

Bug fixes:

We released 11 bug fixes:

1. Issue card: fixed an issue where the side panel was not aligned with the top bar, causing a visual bug.

2. Events and closures:

  • Updated the date format to dd-mm-yyyy on the closure card
  • Added an additional button [copy to clipboard] to capture the whole event ID.

3. Junction Box: fixed an issue where enabling a junction far turn, its inner turns were not being enabled if they did not already exist and there was no warning pop-up.

4. Suggest an Edit:

  • Fixed an issue where suggesting changes on U-turns would show the previous status as Unknown;
  • Solved an issue where the Delete button was active when selecting nodes whose deletion was not allowed;
  • Addressed an issue where the Suggest an Edit banner was missing in the instruction pop-up.

5. Map problems: resolved an issue where the tooltip for Map Problems was showing an incorrect age category. A 13-day-old MP was incorrectly labeled as “15 days or more” (high severity) instead of “6-14 days” (medium severity).

6. Turns: fixed an issue where viewing "difficult turn” times would disable the “difficult turn”

7. Search: addressed an issue where hitting “Enter” would fail to show results and locate the address

*Please note: when you enter the address you want to locate (e.g. Alley 10, Brooklyn Park, Maryland), you won’t be navigated to the address straight away, but a list of results will appear; another “Enter” will locate the place.

8. Turn guidance: Rectified an issue where adding a turn instruction to a segment with No address would trigger Suggest an Edit mode regardless of the required permissions - subsequently this suggestion could not be accepted.

We look forward to receiving your feedback! :envelope_with_arrow:

Thank you,
Olesya

it seems map problems are now yellow instead of red, which i don’t think makes sense? or is it now related to point no. 5, where the colour changes depending on the age?

Feel the UR box needs to re-sized depending on your screen size. It now cuts the links off at the bottom. Seems this occurs when you have the dropdown menus open.

@temp2123454333 yes, it’s based on the age, the thresholds are as follows:

  • High: 15 days or more

  • Medium: 6 to 14 days

  • Low: 0 to 5 days

That is with scripts enabled.

Hi @Olesya-Staff
Just to check, until the last version all map problems were always showing up in red, so it looks like a new enhancement! Is that so?

I see. It appears that URC-E is dong that.

Hi @daviaraujo93!

It was originally reported as a bug which is why it landed in the “Bug fixes” section, but now that I’ve seen a a couple of surprised comments, I’d consider it to be be both a fix and enhancement.
If you have any examples where you’re not sure whether the MPs are categorized correctly, please let me know.

Great job!

But I think there’s a serious :warning: problem. As far as I know, there’s no alternative to the shortcut key that allows us to edit the turns. That shortcut key is the A button. With this latest update, I found I can no longer use it.

After changing the setting “Make transparent” the shortcut works again.

I just checked our Wazeopedia and you’re right, the age categories did have different colors in a far far away past.
It’s just been long enough that many editors (myself included) had already assumed that all MPs showing up in red was WAD.

Thank you for the Great updates!
One issue - appears the UR-MP script was broken by the update. No longer displaying in the UI.

WME production version release threads are for WME without scripts enabled. The WME developers are not responsible for the scripts or any conflicts that come from changes being made.

You can post about issues using scripts in their forum thread or Discord channel.

Thanks a lot for flagging this issue. Would you be able log a separate bug report? I will raise an internal ticket in the meantime.

All the best,
Olesya

Fair enough. Would you be able to share the article you are referring to? I’ve checked some Wazeopedia resources on MPs and it seems that they might need to be updated.

Problem: Pressing “a” does not toggle between transparent and non-transparent arrows.

The solution suggested by uwe_h only works for me as long as the settings tab on the left is open. As soon as I change the left tab for example when editing a street, it doesn’t work anymore.

I discovered this problem in Chrome and I’ve got a confirmation that the problem also occurs in Firefox.

The problem does not occur in Edge.

Hi Stefan,

thank you for clarification regarding the reoccurence of the problem after changing the selection.

I can confirm this error for Chrome, Firefox and also Edge browser.

Actually I’ve checked it on local wazeopedia (Brazil, USA, Germany…), but I believe the best place to update this would be in the Issues Tracker topic on the Community Hub Wazeopedia, where there’s already a section about Map Problems.

That would serve as a reference for all local wikis to align accordingly.
