I’m normally semi-active in NH editing but get down to an office regularly in MA and happened to notice a couple of reports of routing issues in Berlin on a common cut-through road that I’ve used in the past.
A bit of research indicates that it may well be closed through September. See this snippet from the Berlin web site ( http://www.townofberlin.com/ )
“Berlin Road project - Due to unforeseen circumstances, the anticipated completion date of the culvert is tentatively scheduled for Friday September 22nd.”
I believe that the work is very near the intersection of Millbrook Lane and Berlin Rd linked below but I’m not sure if it’s north or south of that intersection.
I’m going to separate Berlin Rd slightly north of that intersection because I believe that’s where the work is but please feel free to re-connect or address the issue differently, this is just an attempt at triage.
Thanks for the research. However, one major tenet is that we try to never disconnect streets because each one has historic speed data and that will be lost making routing less accurate. Instead, we put in a closure for a segment (ask a senior member who has closure privileges to do that) and if needed add junctions to narrow the scope of the closure.
Historic speed data will regenerate in weeks anyway, this is a bigger issue for major roads than smaller ones, but a tenet we still try to follow (to a fault sometimes).
This is not a mistake that will alter the course of history so - no big deal - do note what happened further south of your edit - Jay put in a closure - per the Bolton town website, the actual length of closure is from Randall to Frye but that one segment is enough to serve our routing purposes.
On a side note, are you in the MA Google Hangout (GHO)?
Well, I’m glad I didn’t cause any eddies in the space-time continuum… But perhaps best if I hadn’t stepped in it at all. Live and learn as they say
Interesting that they’ve got it tagged as closed for that length. It must be open to locals though, there are quite a few houses in that stretch of road. I wonder where it’s actually cut. And yes, for sure I see the closure now.
I’m not in the MA GHO, I do see the NH one but am not steadily active due to the usual excuse of being too busy with the unimportant things (i.e. things non-Waze). I’m cyclic with the editing but try and help where I can (and inadvertently hurt from time to time too apparently ).
