We have some Partners complaining about the fact in GMaps appear unexisting closures
These closures doesn’t exist in Waze map and haven’ been added either by partners .
Does it happened somewhere else ?
Are you aware Goggle can add rod closure in GMaps on their own?
We have been told these closures could be added buy someone participating to a beta testing program in GMaps
I believe that could be a damage for out partners ( al list in my country ) because it loves waze is unable to control such an important project as CCP
Anyone can go into Google Maps and ‘Submit Feedback’ and tell them that a road is closed. Not too surprising that some errant closures may hit the map from time-to-time.
The difficult part is getting Google to remove the closures timely.
I’m not a gmaps beta tester, but a few minutes ago I reported with feedback on gmaps the closure of a road (real, already closed on waze … is near my house).
After not even 1 minute I received the confirmation email that they accepted my change. What if I reported a fake closure? It would have been accepted anyway.
On the app is already active, now I want to see how much it will remain.
The same thing I could have done directly from the app …
The problem written by Asterix06 was born because this morning a CCP partner of waze called me to say that he was warned by their editorial team that spreads the news on Twitter, that an important road on Gmaps appeared closed … but it was not.
They thought that the closure had been inserted by a waze editor or by the app. I checked the WME and the livemap but there was nothing on waze so probably the closure came from Gmaps.
If you have issues with Google maps please send them to your community manager. We can forward them to a POC in Gmaps, but be aware that they’re a different entity and we can’t do much more than make them aware.
I observed that closures done by me, appeared few minutes after in Gmaps, but not all segments were copied and Gmaps allow navigate across closed street
We experience that a lot of times when we close a road on Waze, some minutes later they appear on gMaps too.
And sometimes when the info was bad or changed we remove Waze closure, but gMaps closure sticks to the original timing and stays on the map.
It’s sure that the gMaps closure’s source is our Waze closure and not other input.
For sure. The same situation is with GEP - when we close the streets during marathon and other events, they always appear in GM.
I know that Google can do whatever they want with the information, but so far they don’t give credits to Waze/Waze community. A lot of users in Poland joined our community, because they saw info on car accidents, that they come from Waze. On road closures there’s no such information.
