Hi all,
I know there have been threads raised on this in the past, i’m sure I’ve read something! However, I’m failing to find anything relevant in the forums search.
I’m helping out in London (Wow, i know you said you are busy but that’s a lot of URs!!) i’m finding quite a number of URs which show Waze providing a route through a segment that has restrictions correctly enabled on them.
I have asked the reporters to tell me what time they were trying to get through there. In one case I have had a reply which states it was during the early morning.
Is this a known issue? I remember discussions about the restriction adding a penalty and not a complete block.
As far as I know, restrictions are absolute. I did some recent testing on some restricted segments in Glasgow: at the time the restrictions are active, Waze simply will not route through them, always producing a route that stops short.
I was under the impression that red arrows are just a penalty (albeit a high one), although another Global Champ has stated they may be “absolute”.
With the first example near Earls Court, it’s hard to be sure without an exact time.
The second example seems to be an additional closure due to the Winter Wonderland that’s the problem, rather than anything to do with the timed closures.
The thing that really reassures me about timed restrictions working is the CCZ. There are over 100 time-based restrictions around the border of the CCZ, allowing free routing through it whilst the CCZ isn’t in operation. URs regarding problems with the CCZ are almost non-existent - and I’m sure we’d hear about it if they weren’t working properly.
Thanks for your reply iainhouse. I’ve just seen the reply to the UR about the Winter Wonderland. I suppose this is the problem with a non-local editor, I had no idea
The one near Earls Court has 2 reports and one of them has replied to my request for their time, they just said “early morning”. Although it appears to be “manual” gates so I suppose there’s always a chance that who ever opens them didn’t get there exactly at 6am!
I’ll keep an eye on it for as long as I have editing rights there
