The total number of edits doesn't change

Hello! I’ve just noticed that the number of edits on my profile isn’t changing.
I haven’t been very active lately, so I can’t really tell since when the issue started and I just noticed it yesterday after I’ve made a large number of edits. I thought it might be some sort of bug, but I’ve logged in again today and made several edits and the number of total edits remained unchanged. I see the number of edits for each specific day when I hover my cursor over the list at the bottom, but those edits aren’t added to the total number. Moreover most of my edits don’t appear in the “Recent edits” section. I’ll attach 2 photos showing the number of total edits doesn’t change after I made 30 edits.
Any suggestions will be welcome!

Here are the screenshots.

Sometimes things are slow to update. When I looked at your profile just now, I saw 30 edits listed instead of 1.

A couple things to keep in mind

  1. There is currently a delay in points updating on ROW and IL servers.

  2. Edits don’t update instantly in the top panel of your profile page. They update with the points update.

Thank you both for joining the conversation!
John’s comment seems to explain the reason for the missing edits. I could swear that they used to get updated as soon as the edits were made, but maybe I was mistaken or there was some kind of change that I’ve missed.
I’ll keep checking the status to see if all edits will be added after the points are updated.
Thanks again and have a great day!

The total edit count at the top of the user page updates with the tile updates (or is supposed to), the daily edit count breakdown at the bottom of the page usually updates live. ie - when you make edits the counter increases. That said, I wouldn’t look at it too closely, there are likely many reasons it may have a delay in showing updated values, some of which John pointed out.

Thank you for further explaining the process. I can now confirm that the total number of edits has raised after the point update.

The total edit count at the top of my user page has not updated. Not ever. It reads “DownPeriscope, Level 3” and then “0 points, 0 edits, 0 forum messages”. At the bottom of the page are different numbers, specifying edits by type, i.a. 36K segment edits. Up until now, I have not said a great deal about this, thinking this was a known bug and staff would eventually get around to it. I know I am far from the only user with this problem. Now you’re telling me that the top line should, to your knowledge, update every day with the tiles already? Now, I’m starting to worry…

Btw, I just noticed a new “feature”. I seem to have become “Hi [missing %{user} value]”. Well, this user is missing some values, I’ll grant you that.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this / when it will be fixed?

Thanks in advance!

There is a known bug with the points showing on the wrong server for ROW editors. They appear to be updating on the IL server right now. Staff has said they are working on fixing the issue and should have a fix released in the near future.profile page.png

The beta version of your editor page reflects the same numbers. Only accessible if you’re in the WME beta group, I believe.

Thanks very much for clearing that up and putting my mind back at ease. My assumptions (known problem, will be solved when they get around to it) seem to have been correct after all. I’m not holding my breath, though. I’m sure they’re aiming for the near future, but if it were either easy or a major problem, I’m sure it would’ve been solved already. As it seems to be neither, I’m just going to adopt my previous, laid back attitude again, and concentrate on matters that need attention. As I’m sure staff is, too :ugeek:

Thanks again for clearing this up. I see I’m no longer “missing user value” either, so things are looking up all around.

Thanks, but I’m not in the beta group, so I don’t get in there. But no worries, I’m sure it is exactly as you say it is.

Not in beta, not an alpha male, no omicron as yet… Maybe I’m not meant to be anything Greek :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah. Give devs a couple of weeks to release to production. There are a lot of people reporting this and the fix looks close.
