Walla Walla - WA, New Business Location Unlock Request

Hello,

I’m new to Waze for my business but we are trying to update our company location in Walla Walla.

I tried to do this in the editor but I was getting the “Saving Error” message and was not able to implement the update.

Can someone help?

Hi there.

Are you trying to move an existing place point in the editor? We’re only able to move places a certain distance, so that could be the source of the error.

There’s no places at the location linked. If you can give me more information about which place and what needs to be accomplished I’m sure I can help you get it done.

Thanks for the message. There are a few reasons you might not be able to make your change. The easiest way to do it is using the app when you are at the location.

To add or update a place in Waze, stand at the entrance and tap the orange report button then Place. Add a picture and details. If you’re updating an address instead of a place, make sure to mark it as residential. After you submit it, editors will review and approve the Place.

If you want to use the map editor, you have to make sure it’s within your “editable area”. This really means it is somewhere you have driven while you have cell service.

Hi Greg,

When I use Waze to search for our business location, it only shows a point on a road.

The business is a winery and the physical location is set in a field off of the main road (the satellite map shows the new construction and access road).

The address for the business is 3281 Mill Creek Rd, Walla Walla, WA 99362.

It is possible to move the pin for the physical building to the corresponding point in the “field” and have the directions include the newly constructed driveway?

Part of the issue may be that we don’t have good cell service out here so I haven’t been successful navigating here. But I’ll give this a shot!

OK, there’s a few factors at play here.

House Numbers: are tied to road segments and navigation will stop on the segment at the set point. If Waze doesn’t have a house number set it will interpolate the location based on what is set in Waze. If it can’t find anything it’ll go to outside sources (like Google Maps) and bring the point in as a raw lat/long.

Place Names: when searching by name, Waze will first look to it’s own place data and route as close as possible to the stop point contained in the place info. If it doesn’t find a place, it’ll again go to outside sources and bring that stop point in as raw lat/long.

I can see the area under construction and I can add in the private roadway as well as add the house number as a special type of place point (address point) to end routing near the ‘front door’ instead of on the named road segment.
I can also add a place point for the winery so users can find you when searching by name - what’s the winery? Got a website?

I just approved your update to the venue in Waze. If you’re not seeing it in search yet, give it up to a day for the database to index.

Since the road was added yesterday afternoon, I expect it to be live late tonight unless there is a delay. At that point routing should be good.
