A few months ago, several mentors volunteered to support members of Waze Staff, and it went really well:
The team that was mentored (some are still learning and editing!), learned so much from this experience! They absolutely loved it and now, other staff members would also like to learn more about WME and our communities :tada:
So… we’re launching a new program for staff, where a small group of selected employees will:

  • Get a basic training on WME, internally, by Ron Vaisman who you may know
  • And then, we’d like to match them with you - a real community mentor, since with your support they can get the full experience -
  • Learn how to edit
  • Get to know your local community
  • Hear about your challenges and experience them first hand
    So now, we need your help, please:
    Would you like to mentor a member of the Waze staff?
    Here are some general details, and we’ll share more with those who sign up:
    General information
    Timeline:
  • Start: mid-end January 2024
  • Finish: ~3 months later
  • Your staff mentee will be an L1, and will get editing permissions in the area you specify
  • The goal for the mentee is to reach L3, but honestly, it’s a soft goal - we just want to see them learn and make progress :slightly_smiling_face:
  • We will share an optional list of topics to structure the mentoring process, in case you don’t have one
  • You and your mentee will decide on your preferred way to communicate (Call? Chat? Email? Up to you)
  • Language: Most of the mentees speak English and Hebrew. Some also speak French and Russian
    Criteria:
  • L4+ editor
  • A mentor who can teach where local signs use latin characters (except for the Russian speaking mentor)
  • A mentor who can direct the staff mentee to a location with lots of editing needs - if you’re a booster this is a great fit
