Waze Global Community

Hi folks,

My name is André, I a Champs and coordinator from Brazil.

You are not alone. The Waze is a global community, a big family. Everyone helps.

I’m reading some of your topic, AM Apllication, feature “wazers near you” (GTranslator, I do not understand Bahasa  ).

You will experience the same problems that we have passed from Brazil, I think. I would like to help. Can I? I have lots of tips and tricks.

Dear André, Selamat Datang (it’s Welcome in Bahasa)

I’m Chris, along with trev1881, are the coordinators for Indonesia. It’s a great opportunity to meet you. Thank you to Ori too for his help to link us with the rest of the world. I do know that most topics are written in Bahasa so we are going to give our very best English only in this topic

The Self management community system that was introduced, is fairly new to us, so we are still trying to get the hold of it together. Looking forward to hear your tips and tricks. I am certain that fellow Indonesian Champs are also excited to share their challenges with you.

Best regards,
Chris

Sorry by delay guys. Last week I was traveling.

I will tell my experience I have with Brazil. Of course, all countries to create their own rules.

Brief summary:

In Brazil all decisions are based on “Grow, Hold and Engage”.

  • To grow is necessary to keep Waze constantly in the media.
  • Facebook pages - It’s a great way to grow and keep the community informed about the news.
  • Radio broadcast - We send letters and emails to various radio stations to use the Waze traffic in their reports. Today I have 3 radio broadcast in my town that use Waze on its warnings and still make joke with other radios that do not use Waze.
  • To measure - Statistics are beautiful. A good start is enable the resource “around you” and make spreadsheets. See it (GMT-3, user, alerts).
  • To hold. Keep users and editors.
  • Good maps - Users do not like to install the app and can not find the maps. In 2011 we formed groups to map all existing streets, use the public officials maps (no license problem).
  • Make promotions - The people love gifts and stickers do miracles :).
  • Always provide help - Not “only” indicate the Wiki because the people like a more personal help. Help the forum (subscrive forum) and other pages like Facebook and never leave a question unanswered.
  • To engage. Putting the user in the Waze’s family. (The “big problem”). :stuck_out_tongue:
  • Making meetings - Meetings bringing people together, beers are a good start.
  • Distribute tasks - Delegate tasks make people feel part of the whole process.

Today I see the Waze 3 main groups, users (app), editors (include AM) and “The Dark Side”.

“The Dark Side” is the most fun group and they are more engaged users of Waze. This group have subgroups of translators, social medias, coodinators, beta editor/apps/resources and mentors of AM.

Olá André,

I’ve some questions regarding the 3rd part, Engage:

  • For meetings, how efficient are the meetings? You said yourself that it’s a big problem. How many editors actually come for the AM/Editors Meeting. AFAIK, there had been 1 official physical meeting for Indonesian Editors, but I may be wrong. Other Champs, CMIIW.
  • For task distributions, how many people are involved in the tasks delegation? Would you mind advising what types of tasks are actually being delegated? Does the delegation include tasks like “Fix URs,” “Arrange meetings,” and other things?
Much thanks for your kind advice.

cheers,
kukimonsta
