We invite you to explore the new platform and help us ensure a smooth transition.
We’d love for you to focus on checking out the display of the content and letting us know if you spot any design bugs or areas for improvement.

Important things to keep in mind during the beta:

Content Refresh: We migrated the content from Wazeopedia, please note that all content in the Wazeopeida beta will be deleted and migrated again to production.

New Accounts: Each country will have a dedicated “wiki bot” account. You won’t see individual usernames associated with topic authorship. After the migration, when a user edits an article, their name will appear in the edit history.

All the articles are set for “closed” and users can’t reply. Users can still edit the article based on category permissions

Wazeopedia Edits: You can still make changes on the current Wazeopedia. These changes will be reflected in the wiki production environment after the final migration.

Country-Specific Articles & Categories: All articles are currently organized under their respective countries. Forum moderators will be able to add more categories under each country later. You can see example how the categories looks at the community hub wiki

Posts that are over 150K characters: Edits will be possible only if the characters are less than 150K. If the characters are over 150K, there will be an error when trying to edit.

Editing permissions: We will finalize the editing permissions for the new Wazeopedia. Please fill this form to set which groups should have editing access.

Redirect of Links
- Links to /wiki articles which mediawiki immediately redirects to a different article (In mediawiki these would show as “(redirected from some article)”) - are not converted into Waze Discuss links during the migration.
- Links that mediawiki doesn’t redirect are expected to be updated to link to the imported Waze Discuss topic equivalent of the linked article
Templates:
As mentioned in this post, articles from Wazeopedia utilizing MediaWiki templates will be migrated to Waze Discuss as text without the templates’ capabilities.
There will be new template functionality available:
- wzTemplates capabilities:
- A standard Discuss post with existing capabilities (tagging, images, links, embedding), primarily for static content.
- Can reference another post containing a wzTemplate, enabling nesting.
- wzTemplates will be available on all Discuss forums.
- You are welcome to test the templates.
In order to use the new template functionality, given some post you want to use as a template, copy its’ topic id and post number in the post (first post is number 1). When you want to use the template, insert the following bbcode tag into the post:
[wzTemplate topic=<topic_id> post=<post_number>][/wzTemplate]
Templates also support named parameters. In order for a post to use a named parameter in its’ content, wrap it in {{}}. For example:
This is a greeting.
Hello {{first_name}}
Parameters are provided by name, prefixed with p_. For example, in order to use that template:
[wzTemplate topic=123 post=1 p_first_name="Shira"][/wzTemplate]
Will render as
This is a greeting.
Hello Shira.
This is the option for templets in a post
Links to the original article in Wazeopedia:
- Each article will have a link to the original article on Wazeopeida.
- The text and link will be removed after the final migration.

Wazeopedia Status:
Wazeopedia remains open for editing during the beta. It will be set to read-only mode only after the final migration is complete.
