Per Clark County GIS, 159th St only runs east of 50th Ave. West of there, the GIS shows the WSU entrance as a private road with no name.

Issue #1
In WME, the entrance road west of 50th Ave mentioned above is named “159th St”. Should it rather be “WSU Entrance Road”, the same as the loop around the campus and the lower entrance route? Alternatively, per this WSU map on PDF, should the loop just be called “Loop Road”, and the entrance routes renamed for 50th Ave and Salmon Creek Ave?

Issue #2
Is there a compelling reason so many of the roads there, in particular the main loop, were set to PR? I thought PRs had the highest penalty, above even that of PLRs. If this is true, someone navigating across campus would be directed through the lots instead of around the loop, right? Is this right?

If the road is actually called WSU Entance Rd then that should be that name, if not then no, according to Road types/USA guideline and our state wiki here. Looking at the WSU site you linked the outside road is called loop road so you are correct it should be named that.

As for the naming of the connecting roads from 159th and salmon creek, they shouldn’t be named at all if there is no road name for them. Also looking at that section on the campus were they named it 159th those roads shouldn’t have even been split as it served no purpose for routing.

Private roads are useful for the following situations:
Gated communities with controlled access
Schools and Universities (gates / guard)
Businesses with controlled access (gates / guard)

But you do not map the entire area in private roads. That area there has excessive private roads that are not needed at all. Only where a gate is if needed using one segment private road at the gate shown here in the wiki https://wiki.waze.com/wiki/Private_Installations Look down at Gate Option: STANDARD Gate

You only make gates if there are multiple ways in area that a regular person could be routed through if that place is restricted to non public. IF no gates then making parking lot roads in between the regular streets will suffice to not route public though that area.

EDIT:
Oh and one last thing according to our state wiki we lock all University Areas to lvl 5 after they are drawn up or lvl 4 if our SM isnt around.https://wiki.waze.com/wiki/Washington/Places

All those buildings marked as areas need to be marked as point and that parking lot area shouldn’t be there unless it is visitor parking only. We dont map student or staff parking ever. I think the Oregon SM can edit in that area which is https://www.waze.com/user/editor/FzNk I would send him a message to see if he can help you with locks since our SM has been mia for weeks.

And last all those trails should just be removed and they serve no purpose and have no significant landmark to show. According to the wiki which i copied below.

Your car should not be here!
As of April 2015 the Waze app is intended only for drivers of motor vehicles, and Waze has no plans ever to support any other application. In fact, cyclists and pedestrians who use Waze near drivable roads can damage Waze’s speed and traffic database! Editors should not map any road type for the sole purpose of encouraging non-driving Wazers.
It may be useful to map certain non-drivable roads as navigational references if they are visually obvious to drivers, for example by showing where a turn lies in relation to a railroad crossing (use the Railroad type) or a major Rails-to-Trails right-of-way (use the Pedestrian Boardwalk type).

I cleaned up the road situation according to those points, ready for a second set of eyes to review.

There is a section on the south side of the campus that was connected through that I disconnected, as per the campus map it is not shown as a through road, appears their map’s intent was only to guide you to disabled parking spaces along that service road. Have to be careful here because of some slop in how the area was constructed, if someone mapped every drivable path you would end up with vehicles on paths intended for pedestrians.

To that end, I am wondering if those extension roads to the disabled parking spots should even be kept. Navigating to several of the buildings will take drivers up those roads where there is no general parking available. I am second-guessing leaving them in, what do you guys think?

Campus map shows a parking lot not visible in aerial images, on the north end outside the loop, not sure if actually exists yet. Will try to swing by there next time I am in that part of the county to verify.

Building places still need attention, I didn’t get to that.

North parking lot not shown in aerial imagery verified to exist, paved and added.

Building polygons replaced with place points.

Existing parking lot polygon moved/changed/renamed from Blue Pay Lot to Free Guest Parking.
