Contraflow bus lanes

Hi guys, this report has brought up an issue about contraflow bus lanes. Taxis are not allowed to use them so in my eyes we have two options:

  1. Remove Taxi from the Driving Restrictions (which will leave us with a Bus only direction)
  2. Stop mapping them (map streets as one way)

What are your thoughts?

I vote to map them as two-way, but with the correct (bus-only) restrictions in the bus-only direction. There aren’t too many of them, but I think a few might have been mapped on the (misguided but understandable) assumption that taxis can use any bus lanes (including contraflow ones)

Thanks David, I’m leaning towards that option too.

I’m currently fixing these bus lanes - and spotted R840 Earlsfort Tce being split in 2 segments. Do you happen to remember if there is a particular reason? Maybe restrictions were not per direction back in the day?

I noticed somebody adding the northbound segment for Earlsfort Terrace quite a while ago, but this might have been before we could do restrictions based on vehicle type (or, like you say, maybe it wasn’t possible to set per-direction restrictions at the time). I think this one is worth cleaning up by making the street be a single segment with a suitable restriction for the northbound direction.

Ok, I’ve updated the segments in question.
