New Editor version 2.134

Hi G_W1Z,

We have mentioned this as a known issue in the release post. This will be fixed in upcoming versions. Thank you for noticing this misbehaviour.

A bug I’m noticing with this version: if you click a segment and change its direction, the turn arrows don’t appear/disappear as they should. For example if you pick a two-way segment and change it to one-way then the turn arrows remain at both ends until you un-select and select the segment again.

Hi Numbermaniac,

Could you please send a link to segments where you noticed this problem?

Thank you in advance,
Nataliia

No matter how much an L1 requests help from the forum, he cannot edit even if we lower the segments, how can he help like this?

There are definitely L1 editors actively making edits. There are some factors that go into whether or not they can, such as how long the account has been around (I am sure there are others, but we have not been given details).

If there is a need immediately for this editor to be able to edit, they can be given an area manager area. At that point they will be able to edit within that area.

There’s no specific segment - you can try it on literally any segment. Here’s a screen recording of it on Firefox with no scripts enabled: https://i.imgur.com/8Tj20bb.mp4

Indeed - and all of the guides need to be updated, as they currently say that all you have to do to get started as an editor is edit. But, that’s not necessarily the case, and it’s unclear as there is no information other than this thread about what that message means. The message “You can ask another editor to update the map for you” should probably be expanded to include something along the lines of “keep using Waze to get access to map editing” or some such. As it is now, people will simply walk away and not contribute.

In my own case I’ve been a Waze editor before, but not for several years - and with a different linked Waze account (so I’m now effectively a newbie) - and to echo the above - I was frustrated, annoyed, and confused because I could no longer edit the map as I had previously.

Hi @Nataliia_Staff and @Vespucci41

We are having a lot of questions in brazil about the restrictions and we don’t know how to explain.

Could you give details on how the progression of releases to level 1 works or if someone can post the link where we can check.

I understand the fear off new problems, but It’s very difficult to encourage new editors without being able to explain what they need to do.

Hi Michel,

Thank you for highlighting this topic. I am checking this with the team and will get back to you shortly.

Nataliia

I think the most important question is what’s needed to be able to edit their first segment. They can edit places off the bat thanks to PURs.

Hi Mike,

I have checked this. There were updates added related to this topic in the Global Champions part of the Forum. Did you have a chance to review them? Here is the link to the post. The access is allowed for global champions only.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.
Nataliia

Bonjour,

Ne faites pas attention a mon message.
Ceci est un test car il y a un soucis pour l’éditeur de niv 1.
Ce post va peu être tout débloquer …

Bonne soirée.

Hi @mikemachado

Did you find a good way to explain restrictions to new editors?

Thanks for your feedback.

Hello. I’m a new editor. I’d like to tell about an event which will close the main road of a village tomorrow. I tried to edit the map, but I can’t (Erreur lors de l’enregistrement. Vous n’avez pas le droit d’effectuer certaines modifications. Suggestion : Vérifiez et réessayez). But the system doesn’t say which changes I’m not allowed to do.

Well, here’s my profile :

Am I too unexperienced to close a road by advance ? I can do it in the app when I’m driving and the road in front of me is closed, but I can’t edit to close a road temporarily for an event. That’s STUPID !..

I recommend posting information in the appropriate state/country forum for local assistance.
