Rollout Final Timeline - 9th of December

Hey guys!

Hope you are excited as we are!
This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for…

Timeline -
This is the short and updated timeline regarding mapping and opening of the Vignette feature:
Mapping day will be Sunday, Dec. 9th.

We will add all passes to the WME on the morning of Sunday 9th, We won’t add passes before that, to keep it as safe as possible, we know that a small mistake here has a lot of impact.

We have checked your request regarding moving it to Saturday, but due to lack of our ability to support it on this day, we think it will be better to leave it as planned.

It is very important that we will be in touch on this day, so please keep us in the loop if you have any Q and once you are done mapping it in your country as we need to sync it between 9 different countries.

Here is a reminder of how to map the Vignette on the segments.

U-comm changes

As we will open the feature we will make a small change in our U-comm. We will stop the encouragement messages, and start with POP UP messages. The difference is that the POP UP will be seen only if a user is asking to be routed via Vignette road and didn’t add a pass in its account.

Updates -

At this point, we won’t open the feature in Romania due to low number of users who added their paases, and low willing of the community to open it as it is planned now. We agreed on it together, and will make are best to open it ASAP for them as well.

We started sending specific u-comm for Hungary, we already see an incre
ase in conversion and will check the stats tomorrow.

We encourage you to share launch date on Social media, as you did until now. It has impact for the users

All the Best,
Hezi and Ruben

Still waiting to see if we’ll get any visual support for social media (REF: this post, Hezi was checking too)

Thanks for the update!

Hey All,

Just few details and updates:

  • You can start map it on Sunday morning, i will give you heads up when passes have been added.
  • You can map till Monday morning 07:59 AM UTC.
  • At 8:00 AM UTC there will be the Snapshot of the map and these are the tiles that will be builded and available in the client Tuesday morning.

So the feature will be open Tuesday morning and not Monday as reported above.
Accordingly we will send the push notification on Monday evening.

We will keep you posted in case there is a delay in the tile build.

Thank you,
H&R

Not sure that I understood ,maybe I’ve Missed something…why it’s possible to map till Monday only ?

What will happen after that if not all segments were completed ?

What will happen if editors will add segments on Tue ? or the following week ?

Thanks,
Shmupi

I assume that editing is still possible after that time, but these edits will not be processed on Tuesdays, but on Wednesdays or all days thereafter

Let’s assume this is correct

I’m much more worried about the users not getting the correct route because they’ve don’t know where and how to add the pass…much more than the map being adjusted 100% till Monday

And Monday and Tuesday are valid if the map tiles build process will work as scheduled…

Shmupi

because snapshot for tile update is scheduled every day at 8:00AM, but as vignettes will be released to WME only on Sunday morning, we have no chance to finish all edits before Sunday 8:00AM, and as the next snapshot is on Monday 8:00AM we have time to do edits until 7:59 Monday morning

Messed up routing if someone did not have vignette added and very confused users as some parts of freeway would require toll and some other would require vignette.

Change is going to be made cross all coutries, which are part of this project. This feature benefit is mostly while driving abroad, hence it has no sense to make changes only in some countries as the main benefit would be gone if it would not work in all countries at the same time.

Messed up routing will be for all the users that don’t have the pass added… Which are still the majority … Regardless to what has been done on the wme side…

I’m just curious, why spend so much energy being against this when we are now at this late stage?

The problem of people not having the pass has been addressed by staff a few weeks ago in a shared Google Slide, they made changes to the App to support cases where Wazers who don’t have a pass can still see the routes with the passes when they open the Alternative Routes menu, like it was done for ZTL in Italy or Crit’Air in France.
From there it will specify that they need to buy a pass for those roads (which is how it really works, they need to stop somewhere and buy one), and they can then also choose to add it if they wish to use that route suggestion or go with the first alternative if they don’t wish to buy a pass.

Most communities are ready for it and those that were not have been able to step away from the project, so what’s the idea/goal behind the negativity exactly?

I’m not against…this is me positive

You haven’s seen the me negative yet

Ok thanks

But we currently have no tile builds now… does this mean we WILL have a tile builds on sunday and monday?

Second question - Users will only be warned if segments have vignettes in WME, right? Not based on segment IDs or street names we gave you? I hope.

From what I understood it works the same as for ZTL and Crit’Air so it should work like that yes, the segments list we gave were supposed to be only for “U-comm”.

The fact that INTL on https://status.waze.com/ shows “Delay - Map Release: Dec 04, 2018 03:24” worries me as well, I hope they will manually fix it so that we don’t have a long delay messing up the feature launch… Especially since those tiles delays can be very long (weeks) sometimes.

One more question - first it was told, the only people who drive on mentioned road names and segments will get notification. However I have information, that anyone is receiving notification. Even people who never crossed these roads/segments.

U-comm messages have been set to target users, who have driven tolled (vignettes) roads during august and september. I am not 100% sure if everything was set like this, but this is how it meant to be.

I was also receiving messages to add a Hungarian county (not country) vignette, so from my point of view it has targeted me precisely based on roads i was driving.

Well, its not working here like that… people complain.

Just to update: we’re 100% done with the editing for the vignette in CH.
