Community First Responders serve as a liaison between the local community and Waze staff. During crisis events, Waze collaborates with First Responders to gather local context and effectively support Wazers in affected areas.
Key Responsibilities
During a crisis, First Responders work directly with the Waze Crisis Team to maintain map accuracy. Primary responsibilities include:
- Information Sharing: Provide local resources, such as official government websites and emergency service feeds, to verify road conditions.
- Map Updates: Utilize real-time data to add or modify map features, including road closures, emergency shelters, and evacuation zones.
- Drill Participation: Engage in crisis simulations to prepare for seasonal weather events and refine coordination protocols with Waze staff.
Join the First Responder program
The Waze Crisis Team relies on coordinator approval to ensure the most relevant volunteers are onboarded.
