Partnering with Waze

WAZE FOR CITIES DATA

Waze data helps cities manage traffic for millions of drivers in real time, and make better informed infrastructure decisions.

Cities can use this data to inform mobility projects and policies, as well as share their own information about street closures or construction directly with citizens.

Partners will soon be able to access Waze for Cities traffic data via Google Cloud – making it possible to store, query and visualize big data sets with tools like BigQuery and Data Studio.

MAKING CARPOOLING EASY

Waze Carpool helps neighbors and coworkers commute better by riding together.

A true community-based carpooling service, Waze Carpool helps city residents get to and from transit stops and fills in gaps in transit networks.

Scalable, affordable, and ready to use today, cities that adopt Waze Carpool benefit from fewer cars on the road and more parking for local businesses.

Waze offers city partners a turn-key marketing kit to promote carpooling, and can help identify routes and neighborhoods likely to benefit from carpooling.

SAFE DRIVING BELOW GROUND

The Waze Beacons Program provides uninterrupted navigation to drivers underground where GPS signals don’t reach, ensuring location services, increased driver safety, and better visibility into traffic flow in and out of tunnels.

Waze Beacons are open sourced, so all GPS providers can take advantage of their technology.

REAL-TIME CRISIS COMMUNICATIONS

Waze helps cities get out the word quickly in times of crisis.

From road closures to emergency service locations and shelters, Waze is here to help citizens get the information they need during these events.

See it in action:

In September 2017, a devastating earthquake hit Mexico City leaving citizens looking for safety information.

Waze, our volunteer Map Editors, government partners, and local media sprang into action.

Within three hours, we had added road closures and shelter locations to the Waze map and sent an app alert letting drivers know how to find these locations.

Over 90K Wazers clicked on the alert and nearly 5K citizens used Waze to navigate to a shelter.
