First Responders

These level 3+ editors act as a bridge between the local community and Waze staff. Waze will reach out to local First Responders when we are considering whether to respond to an event and to get more local context. They also assist by sharing Information - first Responders are crucial for sharing helpful information and local resources with the Waze crisis team. Finally, they are responsible for adding/removing closures to the map (level 3+), and level 4+ editors, add and inactivate shelters/evacuation centres on the map.

Waze Australia First Responders are required to be level 3 or higher, active on the Waze Australia Discord server and map editing community, and willingness to join the Waze Australia First Responder Google Group.

Waze Australia First Responders Google Group

If you’d like to join and meet the above criteria, reach out to a Waze Australia Coordinator (listed above) with your preferred email address and they will add you to the Google Group. If you were previously a first responder but haven’t received an email in a while, reach out again to join again (as we’ve changed systems and you may have gotten lost).

Learn more about the Waze Crisis response program (operates slightly differently in Australia).

Waze for Cities - Partners Coordinators

The partners coordinator role aims to clarify and organise the relationship and knowledge sharing between editors and partners in a specific city, region or country. The coordinator will handle general communication, mentoring etc. playing a critical role in the city’s transportation flow. Each community should have 1-2 coordinators.
